Monday night is a perfect season in the men’s NCAA tournament championship game. The final performance in the NCAA men’s March Madness tournament took place tonight.
Not since 1976, when Bob Knight’s Indiana team went 32–0, did the Division I men’s college basketball team remain unbeaten. After their buzzer-beating finals win over UCLA, 31–0 Gonzaga has a chance to make history.

Standing in the way is a worthy opponent and in itself the favorite national title – the boiler. The No. 1 seed Bears (27-2) beat Houston in Saturday’s opening Final Four game and did it to spoil the Zags’ perfect season.
Baylor is peaking at the right time
Baylor went out of rhythm in February, with three games being canceled and three postponed due to COVID-19. If it did not, we could have two undefeated teams. Beiler’s two losses are cheating in that light.
It’s fair to say that Baylor played OK in their first three NCAA Tournament games, but we finally saw what a full-throttle Bears team looked like on Saturday. When coach Scott Drew’s team is firing from beyond the arc, it is difficult to counter. The Bears led the nation in a three-point shooting, and it is not the all-American Jared Butler to do harm. Davion Mitchell and MaCio Teague are deadly from the deep, while Adam Flagler and Matthew Mayer also contribute. More than that, it is a strong defensive team. Houston’s nation-leading defense was hypnotized before Saturday, but we saw Bagel more effective at the defensive end, forcing turnovers and slowing down the Cougars’ halfcourt offense.
Gonzaga recovering from UCLA game
While one school of thought is that Gonzaga finally tested in his down-to-wire win over UCLA, another is that Baylor has been over-tested by playing in the Big 12 Conference. Byers has won 13 games against opponents who have been in the top-30 of the net since January. Gonzaga played five. The Bulldogs have a scoring margin of 22.5, while the Bears have a margin of 17.5. The type of game Zags found against UCLA was experienced by the Bears against Kansas, West Virginia, Texas and Oklahoma State.
The opening round of the 2021 NCAA men’s basketball tournament put March Madness in a dizzy of upsets and surprises. After additional setbacks in the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight, and a miracle Saturday night in the Final Four, the stage is set for the final game of men’s basketball on Monday night. As predicted by some bracket builders, tonight’s title game features a battle of two of the top teams in the tourney, when the Galga take a boiler beer over the Bulldogs.
Baylor entered the competition, blasting Houston in their final four games. Gonzaga, meanwhile, had its first real fear of the season on Saturday night. After entering the game with the NCAA Division I record 27 points in straight games, the Bulldogs needed a buzzer-butter to pull out of UCLA in the overtime classic.
The biggest game of Big Dance will air tonight at 9:20 pm ET (6:20 pm PT) on CBS. Here is all you need to know about the 2021 men’s tournament.

Who was the top seed, where can I find the bracket?
Gonzaga, Baylor, Michigan and Illinois were the top teams in the tournament, each ranked No. 1 seed in their respective fields. After the Illinois tour began, Michigan lost to UCLA in the Elite Eight, leaving only Gonzaga and Beeler to stand in the Final Four as the top four.
Both of those teams will play for the title on Monday night, but those who want to watch the tournament can find the full bracket on the NCAA website.
