Christmas came early today for true crime fans, when headlines about new evidence surfaced, possibly linking legendary serial killer Fred West to another victim. Cnn, Guardian, And this BCC There are only a few publications in full circulation covering today’s story.
Fred West died two and a half decades ago in 1995, but his name still remains on the lips of the living today due to recent investigations in hopes of uncovering one of the unseen victims of the serial killer. If found, the victim would join the list of at least twelve other young women who met their ends at the hands of Fred West.
Fred & Rose &
Fred West, born Frederick Walter Stephen West in 1941, was a serial killer, known for at least a dozen victims in the Gloucestershire County section of southwest England between 1967 and 1987.
He allegedly carried out most of the murders with his wife Rosemary West, who is imprisoned at HM Prison New Hall in Flockton, West Yorkshire, England, at the age of sixty-seven.
Henna only joined Fred West in the murder in 1973, but tortured and murdered at least nine young women between 1973 and 1987, including his step-daughter Charmaine in 1971. The two usually dismembered and buried their victims’ bodies after torture, sometimes rape and confinement. At their Gloucester home. The corpses were buried either in the gardens of the west or in the cellar.
Rose West was arrested in 1994, and Fred West killed himself by suffocation in his prison cell in 1995, but the couple made headlines today as another potential archaeologist tried to find another victim in Gloucester. Has been doing. The woman they are looking for was named Mary Bastolam.
BBC Today it was reported that Fred West allegedly told his son that he had killed Mary Bastolam, but never confessed to the murder in front of police. Reports suggest that there were an unknown number of victims who fell at the hands of West, and Bastolm was last seen waiting to catch a bus on Bristol Road in 1968, a year after Fred West began the murder.
Without this, Cnn Today it was reported that Rose & Fred West frequented the cafe working in Bastolum called the Clean Plate Cafe in Gloucester. Archaeologists are now tracing the cafe, more than half a century old, looking for any clues or evidence of the then fifteen-year-old Miss Bastolum.
sky News Today’s report states that Bastolam was last seen wearing a blue coat and carrying a blue bag with her when she went missing fifty years ago. Reports suggest what may have been the blue material in the cafe’s initial investigation.
Medical or DNA
Reports have led to the suspicion that Fred West, alone or with his wife, killed Bastolm and buried him in the same cafe in which he worked in the sixties. Nothing concrete seems to have been found yet, leaving true crime fans wondering how experts can attach any remnants to Bastolum if bones are found.
Gloucestershire Constabulary’s crime scene coordinator Martin Cuff told sky News If investigators find anything, perhaps their best bet was to try to match Bastolum’s dental records with any remains, after identifying them as human. If any DNA is found, experts will have to compare the samples with relatives of Bastolum, as no pure specimen of Mary exists.
Investigators say the search for the cafe is and will continue to be a delicate process, with radar equipment being used to excavate many of the old bistro nooks and cranes. Only time will tell if the remains of Bastolum will be revealed.
