It’s a double whammy for Pokémon fans today as the franchise’s official Twitter account unveiled the launch dates for both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as well as Pokémon Legends Arceus.
For the upcoming remake of the DS-era Pokemon title, fans won’t have to wait much as Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will launch for the Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021.
The wait for Pokémon Legends Arceus – the first seemingly open-world console game in the franchise – will be slightly longer, with Legends confirmed to leave on January 28, 2022.
There are no further details for any of the games mentioned to go along with those release dates, but it is highly likely that Nintendo will wait until E3 2021 to split new information in mid-June.
Still, launching two major Pokémon titles within such a short period of time, especially to fans as the long-awaited sequel to the new Pokémon Snap, seems to be a surprise move from Nintendo is.
According to most accounts, 2021 seems like a dry year for the otherwise Nintendo Switch exclusive, with the only major titles on the horizon (except Diamond and Pearl) being Mario Golf: Super Rush and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD.
For example, updates about Metroid Prime 4 have become almost non-existent, but there is a good chance that this dry spell is a direct result of the upcoming Nintendo Switch Pro console.
The rumored console is expected to run content in 4K and features an OLED panel on the device, features that will go hand-in-hand with Pokémon Legends Arsius, which could be a much sought-after title in the brief footage we’ve seen.
There will be speculation until Nintendo spreads the beans, but in the meantime you can always check out our new Pokemon Snap review to see how the most recent Pokemon title stacks up.
