With AirPods Pro, AirPods Max and HomePod Mini now at the center of Apple’s audio ambitions, many have wondered whether the classic Beats brand will receive as much love from the company going forward. There are also rumors that the company is planning to keep the Beats by Dre brand in the pasture.
However, a recent fare could take a breath of new rhythm in Beats, which has not seen much in the way of major improvements over the years – aside from the excellent Powerbeats Pro True Wireless sports earphones.
according to a 9to5Mac The report, Scott HTC, former HTC head of design, who joined Apple in an unspecified role in April 2020, is working on new Beats products. According to sources familiar with the matter, he is the first person Apple has appointed to design the Beats products in-house.
The report states that Apple still plans to use design firm Ammunition to design Beats products, but Croyal will now be Apple’s point man on the new buds and cans. It’s unclear what his other responsibilities are, but it’s certainly an interesting appointment for long-time fans of those bass-heavy Beats headphones that you see less and less these days.
So what? You can think Well, at one time, Croyal was considered the equivalent of HTC’s Apple design chief Sir Jonathan Ivey. He was responsible for the industrial design of some classic Android phones such as the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 phones, in particular. Not light at all, eh?

The Beats could certainly use a new look for its over-year headphones and Kroeil could well be the revamper in the range. Apple will probably buy AirPods instead, but Beats is still a billion dollar brand that sits in a strange and unique place within the Apple structure. Maybe it’s time to take advantage of it properly and create a new path and reclaim its place among the best headphones around.
