Swedish brand Audio Pro has announced the P5 portable speaker – the smallest wireless speaker yet.
With summer here, the Audio Pro P5 is designed to be the perfect speaker companion to take with you on your travels.
At 220mm x 100mm it’s quite compact and can easily fit in a bag and suitcase when you’re visiting in (hopefully) sunny weather, or perhaps taking the speaker with you when you’re ‘living’ enjoy.
Weighing in at just over half a kilo, it won’t pose any undue problems in terms of portability, and its wrist strap will help keep the speaker close while carrying it, or you can use it to hang the speaker.
In terms of looks, the P5 is simple in appearance, but it is also built to withstand inclement British weather with IPX4 wind and rain resistance. Battery life is up to 18 hours, which is well above the standard we often see with portable speakers. Buttons for power, volume and pairing are included on the speaker.
The expectation would be that the P5 delivers the same entertaining sound we’ve come to expect from the Audio Pro’s larger speaker, and backed by a 35W amplifier with a 1-inch tweeter and custom made 3.2-inch long throw woofer, the Swedish brand claims. Not only does it deliver a powerful sound but can provide “exceptionally low frequency response”.
In terms of connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.0 support, as well as a physical aux socket for plugging in other devices. File support includes MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, and Apple Lossless, which is useful for those with an Apple Music subscription. You can string two P5’s together for bigger sound.
The Audio Pro P5 is available now (which is 10 June) for £140. It puts it in and around the Sonos ROM (£159), JBL Charge 5 (£160) and B&O BeoSound Explore (£169).
Is ‘New Normal’ Coming?
With countries that have pulled themselves out of their respective lockdowns, this summer could be where things return to relatively normalcy.
As such, it seems audio speaker brands are optimistic that people will be looking to venture out, hence why the recent launch. And as people’s first thoughts would be to catch up with each, it seems that a portable wireless speaker could be the perfect companion to live up to the occasion.
