Being nominated between Twelve 2021 bnef pioneers Last weekIdentifying it as one of the most effective and core technology innovations for advancing low carbon economy, deep tech startups QLM Technology Ltd Pleased to announce the closure of its seed funding round, securing a total of £ 3.1 million investment.
QLM is a deep-tech startup with an impressive ambition to help organizations achieve net zero through the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions with its revolutionary Quantum Single Photon Detection Tech. The camera that QLM has built can continuously visualize and quantify methane plums; It is the first measure that actually enables the oil and gas industry to measure methane emissions.
QLM has successfully garnered support for its Deep Tech startup, which is poignantly portrayed through large seed rounds. If you’re looking to do the same for your Deep Tech startup, make sure you have a look at the UK’s largest Deep Tech investors, where you can also find information about the newly established Science Creators Venture EIS Seed Fund Huh.
Investment is led Green Angel Syndicate And include Enterprise 100 Syndicate, To Newable Venture Fund, To Development Bank of Wales, To Bristol Private Equity Club, To Britboats Seed Fund, And Houston-based oilfield technology solutions provider the champion.
The multi-disciplinary association of Green Investor, technology accelerators and oil and gas industry professionals, shares QLM’s vision of enabling organizations to achieve net zero through the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. The investment will provide a roadmap for expanding QLM’s technical and commercial potential, secure industrial validation of unique quantum TDLidar technology, and commercial readiness of the revolutionary quantum gas camera.
QLM has meticulously recognized the fragility of promises from oil and gas majors to reduce methane emissions, while there is no practical way to measure volumes properly, consistently and scale.

QLM CEO Dr. “This funding round will enable us to scale up our growth and start our business providing next generation greenhouse gas monitoring,” says Murray Reid. Our unique Quantum LIDAR is the perfect solution to the challenge to effectively measure industrial methane emissions, and fulfills key commitments that oil and gas majors have made to control their greenhouse gas emissions. “
Chairman of Green Angel Investments and Upcoming QLM Drs. Bernard Bulkin says, “QLM has great potential to help transform what we know about industrial and environmental greenhouse emissions and enable Netzero. I am confident that this seed round will allow the company to progress rapidly to the next level. “
QLM technology was founded by its chief technical officer, Xiao Ai, after postgraduate research into single photon lidar gas detection at the University of Bristol. He realized that his research, in which a LIDAR beam simultaneously examines the size and concentrations of both methane, can help achieve net zero through the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions.
The Quantum Technology Enterprise Center at the university helped Xiao Form QLM Technology Limited in 2017. Photonics industry veteran Dr. Thirty years of experience commercializing cutting-edge technology in Silicon Valley. Murray Reid became CEO in June 2019.
QLM collaborates with industry, government and academics. Innovate is the lead financial backer of the UK single-photon LIDAR imaging of carbon emissions (SPLICE) project which has developed a quantum-capable camera. QLM benefits from the expertise of the UK National Physical Laboratory.
