Lypertek has quickly become one of our favorite budget True Wireless brands, and they have recently announced an upgrade to the award-winning PurePlay Z3.
PurePlay Z3 (formerly TEVI) achieved a five-star rating from us in 2019 and version 2.0 feels less like a re-packaging and potentially a different experience due to a new feature – an app.
PurePlay Z3 2.0 (£ 99 / $ 99 / € 99) is compatible with the new PureControl app which should be live when you read it. The app brings with it the ability to customize audio with 7-band EQ, as well as the new LDX audio mode designed specifically for PurePlay Z3 2.0. With the engaged mode, Lypertek claims that earbuds can offer a soundstage with added depth, increased definition, and “greater sense of space”.
Other features available in the app include ‘Find My’ earbuds tracker, hear through mode, customization of onboard buttons and of course, the ability to update earbuds firmware to receive future updates.
The ‘standard’ audio experience is expected to remain the same high-quality effort as before, a pair of earbuds that we have described in our review as “assured performances across all musical genres”.
Bluetooth connectivity has been updated to the latest standard in version 5.2, with PurePlay Z3 2.0 also opted for the latest Qualcomm QCC3040 chipset, with audio quality topping at aptX compatibility.
Previous earbuds supported magnetic charging, but this has now been extended to full-on wireless charging. The earbud also comes in a white version with a black color option, except for the pink ivory option.
Otherwise the spec list remains fairly similar: the same IPX7 waterproof rating, 70-hour battery life, fast-charging support and voice assistant compatibility – and all for the same low price, £ 99 / $ 99 / € 99.
And you can get your hands on PurePlay Z3 2.0 right now, as they are available to buy from Amazon UK and hifiheadphones website.
