Microsoft Build is running this week and, instead of announcing the next major version of Windows, the company is rolling it out.
During the firm’s annual developer conference, CEO Satya Nadella revealed that the company plans to announce one of the most “significant” Windows updates in 10 years.
Nadella did not show it during the program, but said he has been using it for months, with an announcement planned “very soon”. This shows that development is far away.
It is somewhat surprising that Microsoft is choosing not to update its biggest conference of the year, but the fact is that it may not be ready yet.
Nadella called it “the next generation of Windows”, suggesting that it would not be another major Windows 10 update powering the best laptops in the future.
In his keynote address, Nadella said that it could create more opportunities for developers, so it seems Microsoft is focused on creating a new Windows Store experience as part of the update.
Nadella said (via) The ledge): “Soon we will be sharing one of the most important updates of Windows of the last decade to unlock more and more economic opportunities for developers and creators. I have been hosting it myself for the past several months, and I I am incredibly excited about the next generation of Windows. Our promise to you is this: We will create more opportunities for every Windows developer today and welcome every developer who is looking to build and distribute applications and monetize the most innovative, Looking for new, open platform. We look forward to sharing more very soon. “
Microsoft has already confirmed that it will no longer ship Windows 10X as a standalone operating system and will instead build some more exciting features in current Windows 10 software.
The software was initially designed for dual-screen devices such as the yet-to-be-launched Surface Neo and was seen as a competitor to Google’s Chrome OS. Whether these features are now being planned for this “next generation”, which turns out to be Windows, or a new version of Windows 10 remains to be seen. It certainly should not be too long before you find out.
