Sony is planning to bring some big hitting games to the mobile arena, seeing a new job post.
The company is seeking a head of mobile at its California headquarters, which will effectively be a new department within the company, ready to adopt a hit for mobile.
Listing Calls for a candidate who “can further develop mobile game strategy for PlayStation Studios and help to lay the foundation for future growth opportunities.”
Sony’s call for action also tells potential candidates that they “lead all aspects of game and game development, from mobile and live services to live services with a focus on successfully adopting PlayStation’s most popular franchise for mobile.” do.”
Job listings (via Push chowk) Has not been named after a particular franchise, but it is possible that special games such as The Last of Us, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Ratchet and Clark and God of War may be ripe for mobile adaptation. There is a large contingent of titles that Sony can leverage for gaming on mobile devices, whether in their original or a pejorative form.
The initiative seems to be in its early stage, with successful candidates responsible for setting their vision and 5-year roadmap. In that time we are likely to see more first-party PS5 games that can receive console releases as well as a mobile release, if Sony wants to pick that avenue.
Sony seems to want to create a bit more synergy, ensuring that its major franchise has a presence on multiple mediums. The company’s first-party sports are making their way to the movies and TV sector, including The Untouched Movie and the HBO series based on The Last of Us. Last week, it was revealed that The Ghost of Tushima is also being adopted for the big screen.
