Apple’s latest mobile operating system is now available, and here we have provided new goodies so you can decide whether to download it or not.
iOS 14.5 release date
IOS 14.5 was released on Monday 26 April, just days after the brand new hardware with new software was unveiled at the Apple Spring Loaded event.
How to download ios 14.5
If you want to get the latest Apple operating system, first make sure your device is compatible (any iPhone that can run iOS will run it) and then backup your files.
To get a new operating system, go to Settings> General> Software Update. The option should appear to download iOS 14.5, in which case, simply press ‘Download and Install’. If it’s not, just be patient and try again in a day or two; Sometimes there may be a delay in rolling out between some devices. The installation process does not have to be very long, and your iPhone will be up again soon.
What’s new about iOS 14.5?
IOS 14.5 has some great new features coming, and here is our list of top picks:
- Face ID while wearing the mask (… until you got the Apple Watch)
A side effect of wearing a mask is that your smartphone’s facial recognition technology no longer works, which means that you will have to use your fingerprint or even old-fashioned PIN numbers. Watch is running WatchOS 7.4 – you can unlock your phone with its help, while the phone only scans your eyes.
The much-awaited location-tracking devices were finally launched at Apple’s Spring Loaded event, allowing you to keep track of your valuables. Okay, as long as you download iOS 14.5. Once installed, you can use the Precision Finding feature to reliably track your AirTags.
- Console controller support
With iOS 14.5 on board, you can use the controller for the PS5’s DualSign controller or the Xbox Series X controller with your iPhone for precise gaming.
As is customary, there is a new set of emojis you use, including a modified syringe that contains a transparent liquid instead of blood, so that you can refer to the vaccination. The headphone emoji has been updated to resemble the AirPods Max.
- Better Privacy Control
iOS 14.5 will be Apple’s safest operating system so far, as you only have to choose the option of allowing apps to be tracked instead of being the default. No one was surprised, Facebook is particularly unhappy with this change – but it is a win for consumer privacy rights. This is probably the best reason to download new software.
